About me:
I live in Cleveland, TN, a small city outside Chattanooga and about an hour south of Knoxville. I'm 2 hours away from Nashville, 2.5 hours from Birmingham, and 90 minutes north of Atlanta.
My partner and I have been together since May 5, 1995. We have two cats and a new Maltese puppy. I love cooking and baking, though I'm prone to eating out too much. I love to play cards and various other board and trivia games.
I'm an avid reader and currently have about 300 books neatly, though precariously, stacked on my dresser awaiting my attention. Because of this backlog, I limit my reading to my special interests of science fiction, fantasy and horror. I'm particularly fond of vampire-related literature and I find that I'm fascinated with the various vampire mythologies found in literature.
I love history, science, literature, and mathematics. If I were to have an unlimited income, I'd return to school to complete degrees in history, literature, and mathematics. I already have an undergraduate degree in science (clinical laboratory sciences) as well as a graduate degree in business. In my copious amount of free time (ha ha), I am working through an autodidactical mathematics workbook to bring myself up to speed in college algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. I've got the calculus workbook too if I can ever work my way into it.
My favorite colors are warm earth tones like khaki, nutmeg, and cinnamon. I like cooler tones of blue and sage green as well.
Professionally, I work as a medical technologist in the clinical laboratory of our region's level I trauma center. I work in the clinical chemistry, blood bank, and microbiology sections of the lab although I hold national board specialty certification in the field of hematology.
Sexually, I'm gay. I'm a chubby bear, good looking, and classify myself as a top though I consistently fantasize about being a bottom. I'm also slightly kinky with a penchant for spontaneous bondage, spanking, and Dom/sub interactions with or without S&M involvement. I also have my vanilla moments and sometimes I think that nothing is better than just cuddling up and making out for hours. There's something to be said for kissing and lots of body contact.
Spiritually I am a Zen Buddhist. I find that Buddhism teaches basic truths about life while requiring that the teachings be experienced in order to be believed. Zen, in particular, with its strict meditation requirements appeals to me and allows me focus and order in my life. I'm a recovering Xtian and I particularly find neo-conservative fundamental Christian teachings as vile because people are asked to believe, with no proof provided, someone's interpretation of a book written two thousand years ago. Spirituality is about an active, daily practice of experiencing life and accepting responsibility for one's actions and the outcomes of those actions. That's what karma is.
Politically, I strongly lean Democrat when faced with a two-party decision. However, I usually describe myself as a moderate with some civil libertarian leanings. I believe in the legalization of marijuana for personal use, I support the notion that marriage is a civil right that is due everyone regardless of sexual orientation, and I support the legalization of prostitution.
